A Course in Responding to Child Abuse

September 9, 2014 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Advocates for Children in collaboration with Central Maine Community College will offer a “Responding to Child Abuse” course. This comprehensive course will run for 13 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30pm.

The course begins on September 9, 2014 and will end on December 16th at CMCC’s Auburn campus. The cost is $275 per person and includes all materials. Participants will receive 4.5 Continuing Education Units upon successful completion of the course.

Working with children and youth who are victims of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect can be overwhelming and confusing.  This course will offer an opportunity to learn from professionals in their fields of expertise about how law enforcement, the judicial system, the medical community, foster care programs, sexual assault crisis professionals, domestic violence experts, the Department of Health and Human Services, and Advocates for Children work to end the cycle of abuse in Androscoggin County.

“Responding to Child Abuse” will inform educators, child care personnel, social workers, guardians ad litem, and other professionals working with children and families how they can contribute to the protection of children and youth.
**Registration deadline is September 2, 2014**

There will be NO CLASS on November 11 or 25, 2014.
